The TR is a Series favorite - RDs Tanja & Jim have put together a super nice lollipop course - see the course description to the right and check out the links for the route and Garmin Connect.

The Thunder Run is an 8.4 mile run through the Black Hills National Forest located in an area called Victoria Lake, approximately 10 miles south of Rapid City in the Black Hills.

Thunder Run 9/11/2011

Don't miss the next run in the series, the
Sundance Trail Run

Directions to the Race start: Take Sheridan Lake Rd. from Rapid City to Victoria Lake Rd. ( at MM8 on SL Rd ) make the right turn. Cross the cattle guard and continue to the intersection of Victoria & First Thunder Rds - well marked. Parking is limited: car-pooling is great and if the parking area is full... Please park along the USFS road on one side only - a well used & busy road.

In September, the Black Hills are characterized by sunny fall days with mild temps. The course itself is single track winding its way through tree-lined National Forest Service land and consists of rolling ups and downs with occasional, yet brief technical sections. The first half of the run has a net climb with the second half of the course working it’s way back down.
